News from Dietary: Partnering with the ADRC Senior Meal Program
The Neighbors of Dunn County has partnered with the ADRC Senior Meal Program. We began operating in February of this year, and it has been an incredible experience so far. We have a great culinary team that has put their heart and soul into our food. Here at The Neighbors of Dunn County we pride ourselves on homemade cooking and freshness.
It is very rewarding to be a part of the Senior Meal Program. We offer meals at four locations: Colfax, Eau Galle, Hosford-Rich and Tantara. If you know of someone who is needing meals in their home or travel to these locations, please share this news. New participants are always welcome. For more information on the Senior Meal Program visit www.co.dunn.wi.us. You may also get more information by calling the ADRC at 715-232-4006 or contacting Bobbette Tunnyhill at 715-231-6421.
Eating a well balanced diet is very important to staying healthy and active as you age. Important nutrients are lean protein (lean meats, seafood, eggs, beans), fruits and vegetables (think orange, red, green and purple), whole grains, and low – fat dairy. Remember to choose foods that are high in fiber and low in salt. Make sure to drink fluids on a regular basis to maintain adequate hydration.
REMINDER: Our Red Cedar Bistro is open to the public Monday – Friday 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The Bistro features a light, affordable lunch with a different menu daily, ala carte items, assorted deli sandwiches, homemade soups, a salad bar, chips, homemade cookies, ice-cream and misc. desserts. The Bistro is not open on holidays or weekends.
